Memory Foam From China - Cheap In More Ways Than One

!±8± Memory Foam From China - Cheap In More Ways Than One

China has been in the news a lot lately. Not because they cured a terminal disease or built the worlds biggest bathroom (even though they did), no, it was because they manufactured and exported tainted toothpaste, wheat gluten (in pet foods), and fish. Although many new measures have been taken to deal with the cost saving procedures that put many consumers at health risk, there are some facets of Chinese manufacturing sneaking under the radar of the state's FDA. As consumers, however, we are seeing an influx of manufacturing come back to the United States due to these quality issues associated with cost cutting measures. An area of manufacturing that has not found a home back in the United States is the home bedding industry.

In the world of foam used in beds, furniture, and automobiles, you must pay a premium to get products that are manufactured here in the U.S. This is why cheap alternatives found at cookie cutter retailers throughout the country are such an appealing buy. However, before you go out and pick up that 1.5 inch "memory foam" topper from Wal-Mart for bucks, think about this: The consistency of Chinese foam is so vast most manufacturers out of China experience a 40% spoilage rate on their foam, particularly in visco-elastic memory foam.

What does that mean for the consumer? Low grade foam that lasts much less than half as long as a quality U.S. made product, a cheap feeling foam that will smell of chemicals for weeks on end, and basically the idea that the consumer just sent that overseas when it could be helping our economy right here in the U.S. On top of that, some of the manufacturers overseas are using the same crude foaming techniques used when memory foam was first introduced to the market. These processes used very harmful chemicals as foaming catalysts and given the loose and easily exempted quality control procedures of Chinese manufacturing, consumers have no way of telling what chemicals were used in their memory foam topper.

Are you going to pay more for a memory foam product manufactured in the U.S.? Simply, the answer is yes, you probably are. But think of it this way, you can still find great deals online at wholesaling sites on memory foam and latex manufactured right here in the U.S. Also, you are helping the country's economy and keeping money inside the borders. Best of all, you are getting a quality product that lasts 5, 10, 15 years or more with a warranty! The math is easy. Buy a Chinese topper which lasts 2 years.

So over the course of 10 years you must purchase 5 toppers. With inflation and normal average wage increase, you end up paying about 0 over the course of 10 years for that Chinese foam. Buying a comparable domestic made topper for about 0 that carries no less than a 5 year warranty would still have you paying less money even if you had to purchase a second topper. After thoroughly confusing you, I will just leave you, the consumer, to decide the best option.

Latex Mattress Reviews

!±8± Latex Mattress Reviews

Growing up in the mattress industry, and specifically mattress production, I have seen all types of mattresses come through the pipeline. These latex mattress reviews are from one who has manufactured virtually every type of mattress seen in a local mattress store showroom.

There are many latex mattress reviews online but I sincerely doubt that any of those reviews come from a source that truly understands what it takes to make a durable and yet comfortable mattress at the same time. Most just want to get you to their website and sell you something. Consumers need to be made aware that there are many choices when it comes to selecting the right latex mattress and they are NOT all equal in design.

Anyone searching out latex mattress reviews is already aware of the many qualities these rubber mattresses possess so I don't really need to get into all the benefits in this article. You probably already know that there are two types of latex mattress processes, Dunlop and Talalay. Dunlop produces a more dense and less conforming version while the Talalay process renders a more airy and more conforming product which suits side sleepers much better. You've probably also read latex mattress reviews about natural latex vs. blended latex and are now thoroughly confused or more likely just misinformed by someone trying to sell you the more expensive all natural latex varieties or combinations.

Pure and simple, blended latex produces stronger and more impression resistant latex. That's right; you were probably misled into believing the all natural latex was a better product, which would be wrong. Here is a quote directly from Latex International, the foremost United States authority on this subject, "100% natural latex cores experience 5 to10% more mattress core height loss (i.e. body impressions) due to wear and tear than our blended Talalay and 2 to 3 times more loss (softening) due to repeated sitting and sleeping". So you see, I'm not trying to convince you to buy the more expensive natural latex, but rather presenting you with honest and fact based latex mattress reviews from quality sources.

With soaring prices on natural rubber these days (30% increase in 2011 so far) many manufacturers are trying to keep the cost down on these beds by offering only partial latex in the design. For the purest this is probably not the way to go but for the practical person it can offer a good compromise. In these latex mattress reviews here is what I believe to be a good way to go to not only save a considerable amount of money, but also get a comfortable and durable mattress. Start with a good plant based poly foam support foam (soy foam or castor foam) much like what you already have in your house and sit on it every night while watching TV - sofa cushions. This base foam would be 5-6 inches and then topped with 3" of either Talalay blend or Dunlop latex. Overall height after adding a quilted cover would be around 9.5 inches which is perfect for doing the job and keeping the costs down. Standard fitted sheets will work just fine on this height of mattress.

In doing research for these latex mattress reviews I have found several companies already doing this type of design but in my opinion not quite getting it right. The models I have seen only have 2" of latex on the top which will only give one a small sense of the attributes of a latex mattress. 3" is what is necessary to get major benefits and experience the pressure relief latex mattresses are famous for. I can see this design having great commercial success for kid's beds, rv mattresses, guest rooms and also function as a main mattress for those trying to save some coin in tough economic times. Knowing what I know about mattress manufacturing costs these days, this type of bed should be available for under a grand in a King size making it a great option over those conventional spring mattresses in the same price range.

So in conclusion to these latex mattress reviews, let me just say that there is no wrong choice when it comes to buying a latex bed. It will offer the best ROI of any type mattress money can buy. If you have deep pockets and are not affected by the economy, get a 100% latex mattress. If you sleep mostly on your back, opt for one made of Dunlop foam. If you sleep mostly on your side, Talalay latex should suit you better. If you are looking to get the absolute most bang for your buck, seek out one as described above. Lastly, continue with your latex mattress reviews and just ask yourself which makes the most sense for you and stick with it. When compared to memory foam or spring type mattresses, latex is the clear winner in both comfort and durability.
